Checking the transmission fluid level
Checking and topping up the transmission fluid should be carried out in accordance with the service schedule.
The level of the fluid can be checked in the following manner:
1.
Position the car on a level surface and apply the handbrake. When checking the fluid level, the transmission should be at operating temperature (approx. + 80°C), which will be attained after driving a distance of approx. 20 km.
2.
Run the engine at idling speed, engage position D and wait at least 15 seconds. Then engage R and wait 15 seconds. Do the same in position P.
3.
Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth and put it back in the transmission.
4.
The fluid should be between the MIN and MAX markings on the side of the dipstick marked +80°C. Top up if necessary with Texaco Texamatic DEXRON III (7045 EU, TL1863 US) through the dipstick tube. The distance between the markings corresponds to approx. 0.4 litres.
Important
Change the fluid if it has a burnt smell or is black.
