   Shifting N-D

When the selector lever is moved from N to D, the transmission will go into 3rd gear for 0.5 seconds so that shifting will be as smooth as possible.

This gear-shifting compensation is carried out on condition that:

      | 1. | The brake light switch is activated. Brake lights, ON (bus from TWICE).

 |

      | 2. | The accelerator is not actuated (throttle closed).

 |

      | 3. | The shifting program selected is NORMAL or SPORT.

Shifting N-D and N-R with accelerator depressed

To reduce wear on the transmission and to minimize jerkiness when R or D is engaged and the accelerator position exceeds 3%, the TCM requests via bus information a reduction in the “maximum permissible torque” during the actual shifting process. The Trionic system uses the information in its air mass control circuit for torque limitation.
