Clutch pedal and pedal bracket

To remove


Make sure that the seats are in their rearmost position before starting removal.


1. (LHD) Remove the battery.

2. (LHD) Lift the central electric unit.

3. (LHD) Lift the Maxi fuse holder and unplug the connector to the anti-theft alarm switch.

4. (LHD) Remove the bracket for the central electric unit.

5. (RHD) Remove the cover from the intake and valve for crankcase ventilation.

6. Remove the nuts (4 pcs) securing the master cylinder and pedal bracket (from engine bay side).


7. Remove the complete dashboard as described in group 8 "Body, Interior equipment".

8. Remove the knee shield from under the steering wheel.


9. Unplug the connector from the pedal switch.


10. Remove the screws securing the pedal bracket to the steering wheel member.

11. Unhook the spring from the clutch pedal.

12. Remove the clip and extract the pin.

13. Detach the steering shaft joint from the steering gear. Do not open the splined joint on the steering shaft.


Warning

The steering shaft must never be separated.


14. Remove the screws securing the steering wheel member.

15. Move the steering wheel member back far enough to allow the pedal bracket to be removed.

16. Lift out the pedal bracket.


To fit



1. Fit the pedal bracket without doing up the nuts.

2. Check that the foam-rubber insulation between the pedal brackets is correctly positioned.

3. Fit (but do not tighten) the screws securing the pedal brackets to the steering wheel member.

4. Fit and bolt down the steering wheel member. Couple the steering shaft joint at the same time.

Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 lbf ft)

5. Tighten the nuts for the pedal bracket in the engine bay and the nuts for the clutch master cylinder.


6. (LHD) Fit the bracket for the central electric unit.


7. (LHD) Fit the Maxi fuse holder.

8. (LHD) Fit the central electric unit.

9. (LHD) Fit the battery.

10. (RHD) Fit the cover over the intake manifold and the valve for crankcase ventilation.

11. Fit the pin and clip and hook on the spring. Lubricate the pin with Nynäs Alexol L12.


12. Tighten the pedal bracket screws to the steering wheel member.

13. Fit the pedal switch and connect the cable.

Depress the pedal and pull out the pushrod in the switch. When the pedal is then released, the switch will be adjusted to the correct position. Check by pulling back the pedal once by hand.

14. Fit the knee shield under the steering wheel.


15. Fit the dashboard as described in group 8 "Body, Interior equipment".

16. Set the clock.
