Wash the gearbox beside the gear selector shaft. Engage 4th gear and fit
87 92 335 Locking pin
.

2. |
Undo the M8 bolt on the selector rod and move the gear lever to 3rd.

3. |
Prise out the seal using a narrow screwdriver.

To fit |

Clean the selector rod and check that it has no burrs.
|
2. |
Wind a layer of thin, smooth plastic tape around the hole in the selector rod.

Lubricate the gear selector shaft and fit the seal. Remove the tape and tap in the seal using
87 90 685 Assembly tool, selector shaft seal
and
87 91 709 Clamp
. Keep on tapping only until the seal is flush with the clutch housing.

4. |
Join the selector rods using the M8 bolt.

5. |
Check the oil level in the gearbox and top up if needed. Use
87 92 590 Tool, oil level plug
