Rear-wheel sensors

To remove



1. Raise the car and remove the wheel.

2. Press the brake pistons back, using a pair of slip-joint pliers.

3. Remove the brake-pipe bracket from the longitudinal link.


4. Undo the two bolts securing the brake caliper and hang the assembly from a cable tie.

5. Back off the adjustment for the handbrake shoes (accessible through a hole in the brake disc).


6. Undo the retaining bolt and remove the disc.


7. Unplug the connector on the ABS sensor.

8. Remove the four wheel-hub nuts.

9. Remove the hub complete with backplate. Leave the disc backplate and handbrake assembly hanging on the cable.


To fit


1. Clean the contact surfaces using a wire brush.


2. Insert the hub into the disc backplate and fit it to the longitudinal link. Use new nuts and tighten them alternately in opposite pairs.

Tightening torque: 50 Nm + 30° (37 lbf ft + 30°)

3. Plug the connector into the ABS sensor.

4. Fit the brake disc onto the hub, apply threadlock and tighten the bolt.

5. Fit the brake caliper, apply threadlock and tighten the bolts.


6. Fit the brake-pipe bracket onto the longitudinal link.

7. Turn the handbrake adjuster (accessible through the hole in the disc) until the shoes prevent the disc from turning.


8. Now back off the adjuster until the disc can be spun freely.

9. Fit the wheel, see Wheels .

Tightening torques

aluminium wheel 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

steel wheel 50 Nm +2x90°, max. 110 Nm (37 lbf ft +2x90°, max. 81 lbf ft)

10. Lower the car.

11. Pump the brake pedal to extend the pistons in the calipers.

12. Adjust the handbrake cable, refer to Adjusting the handbrake cable .
