Brake pads, rear wheel

To remove



1. Raise the car and remove the wheels.

2. Press the brake pistons back, using a pair of slip-joint pliers.

3. Remove the pins and collect the retaining spring.


4. Remove the brake pads using the special tool, part No. 89 95 771, if they are obstinate.

5. Clean the surfaces where the brake pads touch the brake caliper. Use a soft metal brush. Check the condition of the dust caps.


To fit



1. Apply copper grease to the sliding surfaces of the brake pads.

2. Fit the new brake pads in the brake caliper.

3. Fit the retaining spring and the pins.

4. Fit the wheels, see Wheels .

Tightening torques

aluminium wheel 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

steel wheel 50 Nm +2x90°, max. 110 Nm (37 lbf ft +2x90°, max. 81 lbf ft)

5. Lower the car to the floor and depress the brake pedal to force out the brake pistons.

6. Adjust the brake fluid level.
