Inspection of brake pedal
LHD Saab 9-5, VIN W3050321 - W3053317
It has been detected that it is possible to fit the pushrod incorrectly while assembling the brake pedal. If it has been fitted incorrectly, the function of the brake lights can be affected.
Check the pedal's connection to the brake servo
A correctly fitted pedal is completely rigid when pulled backwards, while
an incorrectly fitted pedal has a distinct play
when pulled backwards.
1.
Depress the brake pedal a few times.
2.
Pull the brake pedal backwards by hand. The pedal should be completely rigid. If it can be pulled backwards, the problem must be rectified, see “Connecting the brake pedal”.
Connecting the brake pedal
1.
Remove the lower dashboard section on the driver's side.
2.
Detach the pedal connectors for the brake pedal by turning them 90° clockwise and pulling them out.
3.
Unhook the return spring from the pedal.
4.
Remove the clip and pull out the pin.
5.
Connect the pedal pushrod to the brake servo.
Important
Be careful not to displace the rubber grommet.
6.
Fit the pin and clip and hook the return spring to the pedal.
7.
Depress the brake pedal hard to lock the clip on the connection between the brake pedal and the brake servo.
Pull the pedal backwards to make sure it has been fitted correctly.
The pedal should now be completely rigid.
8.
Plug in the pedal switches.
9.
Adjust the pedal switches by depressing the brake pedal and pulling out the switch pushrods.
Then pull back the pedal.
10.
Fit the lower dashboard section.
Marking the modification identity plate
