The stop for the spring extension is incorporated in the damper. The movement of the spring on compression is limited by a specially designed stop on the damper piston rod. This stop ensures smooth damping of the suspension movement, limiting stresses on the attachment points to a minimum.
Spring and damper are mounted together on a bracket which is bolted to the wheel housing.
