Warning

Read through carefully before starting work.


To remove



1. Ignition switch in the OFF position.

2. Remove the centre console, see group 8, Interior equipment, ”Adjustment, replacement”.

3. Unplug the control module's connector.

4. Undo the 3 control module retaining nuts.


To fit

The mounting of the control module is directionally dependent. The Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) will not work if the control module is fitted incorrectly.

When changing control module, it must be programmed in order to function correctly, see . Programming is carried out using the diagnostics instrument with the function ”Programming”.

Warning

Do not connect the control module before it is fitted.



1. Fit the control module in position.


Check that the arrow on the control module points towards the front of the car.

2. Tighten the 3 control module retaining nuts.

3. Plug in the control module's connector.

4. Fit the centre console, see group 8, Interior equipment, ”Adjustment, replacement”.

5. New control module:

Programming

Connect the diagnostic tool to the diagnostic socket under the dashboard.

Select the car and model year in question on the diagnostic tool.

Advance to the SRS catalogue and select programming.

Read off the configuration for the control module with respect to the passenger side airbag.

If needed, adjust settings, following correct programming the values will be locked into the control module and cannot be changed.

6. Turn on the ignition and check the SRS system and control module with the diagnostic tool as follows:

Connect the diagnostic tool to the diagnostic socket under the dashboard. Delete any trouble codes.

Switch off the ignition and switch it on again. Wait at least 10 minutes with the ignition switched on.

Check whether a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is displayed:

If a diagnostic trouble code is displayed:

Carry out fault diagnosis in accordance with the directions given for each DTC.

If no diagnostic trouble code is displayed:

Fitting completed correctly. Disconnect the diagnostic tool.
