Ventilation fan control

To remove



1. Remove the lower panel from the driver's side, 3 screws.

2. Remove the data link connector, 2 screws, and detach the leads to the floor lighting.

3. Detach the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal.


4. Remove the accelerator panel, 2 nuts.

5. Remove the glove compartment, see group 8, Interior equipment , ”Adjustment and replacement”.


Remove the trim from the side of the centre console.

6. Loosen the two front connectors above the filter cartridge.

Detach the connectors from the plate and cut the cable tie.

7. Put the air recirculation flap in position OFF.


Ignition switch in the OFF position.

8. Remove the wiper arms with the special tool 85 80 144.


9. Remove the rubber seals from the wiper spindles.

10. Remove the rubber moulding along the edge of the bulkhead and loosen the clips on one side. Place the rubber moulding on one side.

11. Loosen the cover over the bulkhead partition space (fastened with clips) by lifting it carefully forwards so that it is released from the windscreen.

Hold the wire to the bonnet release to one side and lift the cover backwards towards the windscreen.

12. Loosen the clips holding the front edge of the water shield with a screwdriver. Lift off the water shield.


13. Remove the wiper unit and unplug the connector, 4 bolts.

14. Remove the frame around the ventilator fan, 2 clips and 2 nuts on the front edge.


15. Remove the wiper arm bracket over the ventilation fan, 3 bolts.

16. Free the cable harness from the cover over the ventilation fan (fastened with clips).

17. Remove the cover over the ventilation fan, 2 bolts on front edge and 2 bolts on rear edge.

Lift the cover to one side and remove it.

18. Lift out the ventilation fan, cut the cable tie, and unplug the fan connector.

19. Pull up the wiring harness including rubber seal and cut the cable tie.


Note

Make a note of the position of the wiring harness.


20. Press down the wiring harness on the other side, including the rubber seal.

21. Remove the ventilation fan control, 2 bolts.



To fit



1. Fit the ventilation fan control, 2 bolts.

2. Insert the wiring harness through the fan housing by the air recirculation flap.

3. Fit the rubber seal.

4. Insert the ventilation fan wiring harness through the cover. Note the foam seal in the hole.

5. Insert the ventilation fan from one side of the bulkhead partition space.


6. Plug in the connector and fit a new cable tie to the ventilation fan.

Check that the wiring harness is not in contact with the fan motor or the air recirculation flap.

7. Push the wiring harness through the hole in the fan housing and fit the rubber seal.

8. Fit the cover over the ventilation fan.

9. Fasten the wiring harness to the cover.

10. Fit the connectors to the plate above the filter and fasten the wiring harness with cable ties.


11. Plug in the connectors above the filter.


12. Replace the side trim on the centre console.

Fit the glove box, see group 8 Interior equipment , ”Adjustment and replacement”.

13. Fit the accelerator panel, 2 nuts.


14. Refit the accelerator cable.

15. Screw on the data link connector to the lower panel and replace the floor lighting.


16. Fit the lower panel, 3 screws.

17. Fit the wiper arm bracket over the ventilation fan, 3 bolts.


18. Fit the frame around the ventilation fan, 2 clips and 2 nuts.

Make sure the gasket is positioned correctly.

19. Fit the wiper unit, 4 bolts.


20. Put back the water shield (fastened with 3 clips on front edge).

21. Insert the cover over the bulkhead partition space from the rear, against the windscreen. Hold the wire to the bonnet to one side and then place it in its groove.


22. Fit the rubber strip on the front edge of the bulkhead, 2 clips.

23. Fit the rubber seals on the wiper spindles.

24. Fit the wiper arms.
