Rear bumper abutment

Removing

1. Mount the car in an alignment bench and align if necessary.

2. Drill out the spot-welds.

3. Remove the abutment and align any damaged sheet metal or panels.

Fitting

1. Drill holes for plug-welding in the spare part.

2. Grind clean the surfaces on the body and the spare part that are to be welded.

3. Apply welding primer to the surfaces that are to be plug and spot-welded.

4. Put the new rear plate in position and fix it with a few welding clamps. Check the fit with the alignment bench measuring system.

5. Shut the boot lid and check the fit of the rear plate.

6. Plug and spot-weld the rear plate.

7. Smooth off the welds.

8. Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.

9. Apply primer to all bare metal surfaces.

10. Seal joints and seams with sealant.

11. Apply PVC substitute to the underside of the rear plate.
