Place the car on a lift.

Remove the grille, the right headlamp and right direction indicator.
|
3. |
Drain the refrigerant, see
.
|
4. |
Disconnect the inlet hose with mass air flow sensor without unplugging the connector and move it to one side.
|
5. |
Relieve the tension off the multigroove V-belt and remove it.
|
6. |
Fit hose pliers part No. 30 07 739 on both hoses to the power steering fluid reservoir.
|
7. |
Remove the pressure pipe bolt on the power steering pump.
|
8. |
Remove the bolt for the holder of the power steering pump pressure pipe.
|
9. |
Remove the screw by the air induction pipe bracket.
|
10. |
Loosen the screws for the low and high-pressure pipes on the A/C compressor.
|
11. |
Unplug the connector for the compressor located on the structure/console behind the right headlamp. Remove the connector from the holder.
|
12. |
Raise the car.
|
13. |
Remove the air shields.
|
14. |
Remove the low and high-pressure pipes from the A/C compressor. Plug the pipes and the compressor.
|
15. |
Remove the air induction pipe.
|
16. |
Remove the pipe bracket on the subframe (3 pcs) and for the radiator console.
|
17. |
Loosen the connections to the power-steering cooler loop (2 joints). Plug the pipes.

18. |
Remove the power-steering cooler loop and the pressure pipe to the power steering pump.
|
19. |
Remove the three retaining bolts for the compressor.
|
20. |
Remove the compressor.

To fit |

Adjust the oil volume in the compressor, see
.

2. |
Fit the compressor and tighten the three retaining bolts.
Tightening torque: 24 Nm (17.8 lbf ft) |

Insert the bolts for the A/C compressor low and high-pressure pipes.

4. |
Lift up the power steering pump pressure pipes.
|
5. |
Put the power-steering cooler loop in position in the subframe.
|
6. |
Make the connections to the power-steering cooler loop (two joints).
|
7. |
Lower the car.
|
8. |
Tighten the A/C compressor low and high-pressure pipes.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft) |
9. |
Insert and tighten the power steering pump pressure pipes.
Tightening torque: 30 Nm (25 lbf ft) |
10. |
Raise the car.
|
11. |
Attach the cooler loop for power-steering pump to the holders using the screws. Three in the subframe and one in the radiator bracket.
|
12. |
Tighten the two joints.
|
13. |
Tighten the screws for the pressure pipe holder.
|
14. |
Fit the belt on the compressor.
|
15. |
Fit the air inlet pipe and tighten by the filter.
|
16. |
Mount the air shields.
|
17. |
Lower the car.
|
18. |
Tighten the air induction pipe to the console.
|
19. |
Remove the hose pliers part No. 30 07 739 from the return hoses to the power steering fluid reservoir.
|
20. |
Fit the multigroove V-belt on the pulley. Check that the position is correct.
|
21. |
Plug in the connector for the compressor and press it into the holder on the structure/console behind the right-hand headlamp.
|
22. |
Fit the inlet hose with the air mass flow sensor. Fit the right headlamp and right direction indicator.
|
23. |
Fill oil in the power steering fluid reservoir.
|
24. |
Vacuum pump the A/C system and refill with refrigerant, see
.

25. |
Start the engine and turn the steering wheel back and forth a few times.
|
26. |
Turn off the engine. Adjust the power steering fluid level and check for leaks.
|
