Replacement of O-rings, heat exchanger

Remove the expansion tank filler cap to release the pressure.
|
2.
|
Clamp the heat exchanger's inlet and outlet hoses using two pairs of pinch-off pliers 30 07 739.

3.
|
Remove the cover, lower dashboard section, and detach the side trim. remove the insulation under the heat exchanger.
|
4.
|
Remove the screws securing the heat exchanger, the two lower screws together with the plastic cover.
|
5.
|
Withdraw the heat exchanger slightly and remove the PAD connection. Detach the pipes from the heat exchanger and remove the O-rings.
|
Use O-rings having part No. 50 45 885.

Lubricate the O-rings with synthetic vaseline. Fit the O-rings on the pipes.
|
2.
|
Connect the pipes to the heat exchanger and slide the heat exchanger into the heating and ventilation unit.
|
3.
|
Fit the PAD connection.
Tightening torque: 3-4 Nm (2.2-3.0 lbf ft)
|
4.
|
Screw the heat exchanger into place.
|
5.
|
Remove the pinch-off pliers.
|
6.
|
Pressurize the cooling system and check for leaks from the pipe connections.
|
7.
|
Fit the insulation, side trim, lower section of dashboard and cover.
|
8.
|
Check the coolant level and top up as necessary.
