Seat belts, front
Seat belts, front |
For the driver and front-seat passenger, there is a seat belt warning which ensures that the belts are fastened.
The inertia reel is mounted in the upper part of the B-pillar. It has a locking system which prevents further extension of the belt when locked. The locking system is controlled by two independent activation systems, one of which is sensitive to vehicle retardation and the other to a certain degree of belt acceleration.
The belt has automatic height adjustment which ensures that the belt sits correctly irrespective of the person's height.
The lap strap anchorage and buckle lock are located in the seat frame. This means that the buckle is always in the same position relative to the lateral position of the seat, irrespective of the seat setting. The lock has a double lock function, which means that in its locked position, the catch is blocked by spindle. The spindle is released with the ordinary release button.
Belt tensioners |
The front seat belts are fitted with belt tensioners. The belt tensioners tighten the front seat belts in the event of an accident, which reduces the forward movement of the body.
The belt tensioners form a component of the Airbag system. For further information and fault diagnosis, see Group 8, Airbag (SRS).
