Front seats |
The front seats are constructed around pressed steel frames for the seat and the backrest. The backrest and seat frames are joined together via the backrest reclining mechanism.
In the front of the seat frame is a crossmember which prevents the occupant from submarining in the event of a collision. The seat frame also holds the contains the lower anchorage points for the seatbelt.
The cushions are supported on flexible steel netting (Pullmaflex) suspended from helical springs at either side. The cushions are made of polyurethane polyether and covered with leather or plush velour.
The front seats have an SAHR system incorporated into the upper part of the backrest. The SAHR system reduces neck and whiplash injuries in the event of a collision from the rear at low speeds.
Front seats with electric heating are standard equipment in certain markets.
Electrically adjustable front seats
Electrically adjustable front seats are available as an option on the Saab 9-5. The seats are adjusted from a switch on the outside of each seat. The PSM system (Power Seat Memory) is an integrated part of the electrically adjustable driver's seat. The PSM system enables 3 different seat settings to be stored in the driver's seat memory.
The passenger's seat is equipped only with electric adjustment and has no memory function.
Ventilated front seats
Seat-cushion and backrest ventilation for electrically adjustable front seats is available as an option. The system consists of a fan in the seat cushion and another fan in the backrest. These fans suck air and moisture through perforations in seat and backrest.Rear seat |
The rear seat is designed to provide seating accommodation for three passengers. The outer seats have head restraints as standard and the centre can be fitted with a head restraint as a option.
The rear seat and backrest fold down. Both the seat and the backrest cushions are split 40/60. Each cushion (seat and backrest) consists of a metal frame, polyurethane foam padding and upholstery. The 60% part of the backrest cushion is also fitted with an armrest and hatch integrated into the metal frame giving access to the luggage compartment.
