Preheated oxygen sensor 1, OBD II; before catalytic converter (592Fa)

Remove the engine cover.
|
2.
|
Unplug the connector to the crankshaft position sensor so that the oxygen sensor connector is accessible.
|
3.
|
Unplug the oxygen sensor connector.
|
4.
|
Withdraw the oxygen sensor's connector and cable, taking care to avoid bending it.
|
5.
|
Undo the oxygen sensor with a 22 mm dog-leg spanner or similar tool.
|

Apply Molykote 1000 (part no. 30 20 971) or equivalent to the oxygen sensor threads.
|
2.
|
Fit the oxygen sensor and tighten it with a 22 mm dog-leg spanner.
Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 lbf ft)

3.
|
Carefully run the cable back to the oxygen sensor connector.
Important
|
The cables must not be twisted. Twisted cables exposed to vibration can break.
|
The oxygen sensor is sensitive to impact and jolting and must be handled with care.
|

Important
|
Chemicals such as contact spray and grease must not come into contact with the oxygen sensor connectors.
|
|
|
4.
|
Plug in the oxygen sensor and crankshaft position sensor connectors.
|
5.
|
Fit the engine cover.
