Heated oxygen sensor

To remove


1. Remove the engine cover.


2. Unplug the crankshaft position sensor's connector so that the oxygen sensor connector is accessible.

3. Unplug the oxygen sensor connector.

4. Withdraw the oxygen sensor's connector and cable, taking care to avoid breaking same.


5. Remove the oxygen sensor using a 22 mm dog-leg spanner or the like. Do not twist or bend the leads unnecessarily.


To fit



1. Apply Molykote 1000 (part no. 30 20 271) or equivalent to the oxygen sensor threads.

2. Fit the oxygen sensor and tighten it with a 22 mm dog-leg spanner.

Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 lbf ft)

3. Carefully thread the cable back to the oxygen sensor connector.

Important

The cables must not be twisted. Twisted cables exposed to vibration can break.

The oxygen sensor is sensitive to impacts and jolting and must be handled with care.


Important

Chemicals such as contact spray and grease must not come into contact with the oxygen sensor connectors.


4. Plug in the oxygen sensor and crankshaft position sensor connectors.


5. Fit the engine cover.
