Remove the engine cover.

Undo the lower screw (it may be difficult to reach) using a magnetic T15 bit.

Unplug the connector.

|
| 4. |
Remove the upper screw.
|
|
| 5. |
Remove the solenoid (not available as a separate spare part).

| To fit |
Fit in reverse order.
Spray the connector with Kontakt 61 contact cleaner (part no. 30 21 763).
Tightening torque: 2.5 Nm (1.8 lbf ft)

The throttle body will go to mechanical limp home mode when the limp-home solenoid is removed. After refitting, the limp-home mechanism must therefore be reset as described in "Resetting activated limp-home mechanism". |
