| 1. | Reduce fuel pressure by removing fuel pump fuse no. 19 while the engine is idling. Turn off the ignition once the engine has stopped and replace the fuse.   | |
| 2. | Remove the engine cover. | |
| 3. | Detach the return line from the fuel rail. | |
| 4. | Connect the adapter and hose, tool 83 93 183, to the return of the fuel rail. Place the hose end into a collecting vessel.   | |
| 5. | Run the fuel pump with the diagnostic tool for 30 seconds. While the pump runs for 30 seconds it should supply at least 700 ml fuel to the collecting vessel.   | |
| 6. | Remove the gauge. | |
| 7. | Take care of any excess fuel. | |
| 8. | Connect and tighten the return line to the fuel rail. | |
| 9. | Fit the engine cover. | |
