Outside temperature sensor

Outside temperature sensor

The outside temperature sensor is mounted in the centre of the lower spoiler and provides the SID with information on the current outside temperature. The sensor is an NTC resistor.

The SID measures the outside temperature by supplying the sensor with +5 V via a resistor (10 kohm) in the control module. The sensor is supplied via pin 20 and grounded via pin 7.

The potential difference across the resistor in the SID is proportional to the outside air temperature. The SID uses the outside temperature reading for trip computer functions, and the value is transmitted as bus information OUTSIDE TEMP, unit °C, see Trip computer functions SID 1/SID 2

Diagnostics

If there is a break/short to ground in the circuit to the outside temperature sensor, diagnostic trouble code B1746 will be generated.

If there is a short circuit to B+, fuse 8 will blow.
