Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery cable.

Remove the connector from the bracket above the starter motor.
|
3. |
Remove the bracket.
|
4. |
Raise the car.
|
5. |
Remove the drive belt cover.
|
6. |
Unplug the generator connector.
|
7. |
Unplug the oil pressure sensor connector.
|
8. |
Remove the clip that secures the wiring harness to the generator.
|
9. |
Unplug the starter motor connector.
|
10. |
Remove the bolts securing the starter motor.
|
11. |
Lower the car.
|
12. |
Lift out the starter motor up between the bulkhead and exhaust manifold.

To fit |

Clean then grease the contact surfaces and electrical connections of the starter motor with petroleum jelly, part no. 30 06 665, to prevent oxidization.

2. |
Position the starter motor, lowering it between the exhaust manifold and bulkhead.
|
3. |
Thread the upper bolt securing the starter motor.
|
4. |
Raise the car.
|
5. |
Fit the starter motor bolts.
|
6. |
Plug in the starter motor connector.
|
7. |
Plug in the generator connector.
|
8. |
Plug in the oil pressure sensor connector.
|
9. |
Fit the clip that secures the wiring harness to the generator.
|
10. |
Fit the drive belt cover.
|
11. |
Lower the car.
|
12. |
Fit the bracket above the starter motor.
|
13. |
Fit the connector to the bracket.
|
14. |
Connect the negative battery cable and fit the battery cover.
|
15. |
Set the clock and reprogram the radio code.
|
16. |
Carry out a function check.
