Control module, theft protection
Control module, theft protection |
General |
The theft protection functions for the alarm and immobilizer are part of TWICE and are controlled by the system control module. See TWICE for further information.
The primary tasks of the control module, as the central unit for the anti-theft alarm, are to: check continually the status of the sensors when the alarm is armed; to set off the alarm siren and/or hazard flashers in the event of intrusion; and to prevent the car from being started through immobilization.
There is a processor in the control module, in which a fixed program is stored in the PROM (Programmable Read Only Memory). Since different markets have different requirements regarding anti-theft alarm function, the memory can be programmed for the market in question. In addition, there are several function that can be programmed as desired by the customer.
The module is programmed using Tech 2 and the information is stored in an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable PROM). The previous programming is deleted when a new program is entered. The stored programming is retained in the event of a power failure.
