Cars in stock must be remedied before delivery.
A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.
Saab 9-5 with V6 engine, M98-M00 up to and including VIN Y3014156
A seal is missing in the connector (H4-1) between the starter motor harness and engine wiring harness. This can mean that the connector pins corrode and cause the starter motor, generator and oil pressure sensor to malfunction.
As of VIN Y3014157, a seal is fitted in connector H4-1.
41 13 759 Seal
79 81 880 Cable tie (if necessary)
Before starting the procedure check box B4 of the modification identity plate. If the box is not checked, proceed as follows.
1.
Open the bonnet and locate the brown connector H4-1, which is positioned in a bracket under the turbocharger deliver pipe by the battery. Remove the connector by pressing in the catch (on certain cars the connector is secured to the bracket with a cable tie).
2.
Unplug the two halves of the connector using a small screwdriver.
3.
Check that the pins are not corroded. If necessary, change the connector, see SI 371-1703.
4.
Fit a seal in the male connector. Press in the seal using a small screw driver.
5.
Spray the pins with Kontakt 61 (part no. (16) 30 04 520), plug in the connector. Check that the catch engages and that no pins or sleeves are pushed out of the connector.
6.
Fit the connector to the bracket. If the connector was secured with a cable tie, secure it in the same way as before.
Marking the modification identity plate
After remedial action has been taken, box B4 of the modification identity plate must be marked. If the procedure has been carried out by an importer, mark the box with a “7”, and if carried out by a dealer with an “8”.
