Cleaning the cooling circuit
Connect flushing equipment 87 91 824 to the cooling circuit so that the flow is in the opposite direction.
Note
Important
Always use protective gloves. Incorrect connection can cause damage to the gearbox as the fluid filter incorporates a non-return valve and the fluid is not able to circulate in the gearbox. The cooler will not be cleaned either.
1.
Oil in the sealing surface of the adapter plate with Texaco Texamatic DEXRON III (7045 EU, TL1863 US) and fit a new fluid filter, part no. 91 44 445.
2.
Connect one of the hoses in the kit to the coupling on the bottom of the adapter plate (opposite side to the fluid filter).
4.
Detach the delivery hose from the lower gearbox coupling and connect it to the coupling on the side of the adapter plate (inlet).
5.
Detach the return hose from the upper gearbox coupling and connect the hose from the bottom of the adapter.
6.
Couple together the return hose from the cooler with the remaining hose in the kit and connect it to the lower coupling on the gearbox.
7.
Fill the gearbox with fluid, start the engine and make sure the connections do not leak.
8.
Apply the handbrake and depress the brake pedal.
9.
Move the selector lever to position D and let the cleaning procedure progress for 5 minutes.
10.
Detach the hose from the lower coupling on the gearbox and separate the joint between the hose from the cooler and the hose from the cleaning kit.
11.
Detach the cleaning kit hose from the upper gearbox coupling and connect the return hose from the cooler instead.
12.
Detach the pressure hose from the outlet on the side of the adapter palate (inlet) and connect it to the lower outlet on the gearbox. Use new seals greased with vaseline.
Tightening torque: 27 Nm (20 lbf ft)
13.
Make sure the hoses are not resting on the subframe. Lower the car.
14.
Check the fluid level in the gearbox and top up if necessary.
