To remove



1. Release the Maxi-fuse holder.

2. Unplug the electrical connector on the anti-theft alarm.

3. Cut off the cable ties securing the positive battery cable to the main fuse box.

4. Undo the nuts and move the main fuse box out of the way.

5. Suspend the main fuse box from a cable tie.

6. Use a brake pedal clamp to depress the brake pedal about 50 mm to prevent brake fluid from running out of the master cylinder.

7. Unplug the connector and tuck it out of the way.


8. Use compressed air to clean the surfaces around the brake-pipe couplings.

9. Undo the brake-pipe couplings using a brake pipe spanner and plug the openings.

10. Undo the two nuts on the hydraulic unit.

11. Place a cover over the splash guard to protect it from any brake-fluid spillage.

12. Lift out the hydraulic unit, taking care not to damage the pipes.


To fit



1. Lift the hydraulic unit into position, taking care not to damage the pipes.

2. Fit the two nuts.

Tightening torque: 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft)

3. Remove the plugs and reconnect the brake pipes. Fit the brake-pipe nipples (rear pipes first) finger tight and then tighten with a spanner.

4. Plug in the connector and fit the fuse box.

5. Secure the battery lead to the fuse box with a cable tie.


6. Plug in the connector to the anti-theft alarm.

7. Hook on the Maxi-fuse holder.
