Tailgate 5D
Tailgate 5D |
The tailgate has two gas springs located one on each side of the tailgate opening between the roof panel and headlining. They are fastened to the hinge and roof with ball pins. If the gas spring comes loose, e.g. in a collision, the front fastenings have a protector that prevents the gas spring from falling down or being thrown forwards in the car.
The tailgate can be unlocked electrically by pressing the appropriate button on the remote control or by means of the switch in the driver's door. The tailgate can also be unlocked electrically by turning the key in the tailgate lock cylinder which is located behind a cover. On turning the key a microswitch closes to unlock the tailgate.
The switch in the driver's door will not work when the car has been locked from the outside, if TSL (Theft Security Lock) is active or when the vehicle speed exceeds 4 km/h. For more information on the tailgate central locking system, see .
