Base solid paints with clear enamel
Saab is gradually switching from ordinary solid paint to bassolid finish paint with clear enamel. When a car is to be repainted, these two paint systems can easily be mistaken for each other. For this reason, cars with bassolid finish paint are identified by a special label (on the left-hand B pillar).Due to differences in their finish and ageing characteristics, these two paint systems should never be mixed.
Ordinary single layer solid paint with clear enamel is not quality approved by Saab Automobile AB.
Spray and enamel applicators can be used as usual for smaller repairs.
Metallic paints are not affected.
Important | ||
Chemical products like paint, adhesive, primer and the like should be stored and used in accordance with the laws and regulations of your country. Always read the warning labels and directions for use on the product packaging before commencing work. |

Markings during a transition period |
Final marking |
When all production cars are painted with base solid finishing paint, the label will be discontinued. Instead, the ordinary colour code and tyre pressure label will have the text BASE SOLID .
