To remove |
1. |
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
|

Remove the engine cover.
|
3. |
Unscrew the expansion tank filler cap to release the pressure, if any, and then screw it back into place.
|
4. |
Detach the turbo pressure pipe from the throttle body.
|
5. |
Clamp the two coolant hoses to the throttle body.
|
6. |
Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body's pedal arm.
|
7. |
Unplug the limp-home solenoid's connector.
|
8. |
Unplug the throttle body's 10-pin connector.
|
9. |
Detach the vacuum hose and the connection to the purge line under the limp-home solenoid.

10. |
Detach the two coolant hoses from the throttle body.
|
11. |
Undo the 3 mounting screws on the throttle body and remove it.

To fit |
1. |
Position the throttle body and screw it on with the 3 mounting screws. Fit a new seal if necessary and apply a thin layer of vaseline.

2. |
Connect the two coolant hoses to the throttle body.
|
3. |
Fit the vacuum hose and connection to the purge line under the limp-home solenoid.
|
4. |
Plug in the throttle body 10-pin connector.
|
5. |
Plug in the limp-home solenoid connector.
|
6. |
Fasten the throttle cable to the throttle body pedal arm.
|
7. |
Remove the clamps from the two coolant hoses on the throttle body.
|
8. |
Connect the turbo pressure pipe to the throttle body.
|
9. |
Start the engine and make sure all the connections are tight. Top up with coolant if necessary.

10. |
Replace the engine cover.
|
Spray all connectors with Kontakt 61 contact cleaner (part no. 30 04 520).
Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
Important | ||
If the ignition is turned on while working on the engine, the Limp-home solenoid will be activated. If the ignition is put in position ON, the limp-home mechanism must therefore be reset as described in “Resetting activated limp-home solenoid”. |
