P0108

Read the instructions below then start the fault diagnostic procedure.

Symptom: CHECK ENGINE. Engine speed drops slower than normal when the accelerator is released. Possible misfiring before DTC is generated.

P0108

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit. Short to B+.

Fault symptoms

CHECK ENGINE.

Engine speed drops slower than normal when the accelerator is released.

Possible misfiring before DTC is generated.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:

- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.

Enable criteria:

- Engine running.

Fault criteria:

- Voltage higher than 4.815 V for more than 10 s.

Dependents:

- None.

System reaction to a fault:

- Purging blocked. Correction of the air mass/combustion for fuel calculation is blocked. Charge pressure adaptation is blocked and reset.

OK report:

- P0106 Test 1 and Test 2 performed once and fault criteria not fulfilled. Fault criteria for P0107 or P0108 not fulfilled.

Fault handling: (See “Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.)

- Type III.

Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns electrical faults in connected leads or in the sensor.

Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault are:

Pressure sensor reading, in kPa. With the engine switched off, this reading should be the same as those for the other two pressure sensors. Permissible variance is 10 kPa.

See also the description of test values under ”Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.

Check the wiring

Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuits in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
