Symptom: Market US/CA: CHECK ENGINE Possible misfiring before DTC is generated.

P0134


O2S Circuit. No Activity Detected. Sensor 1.


Fault symptoms


• Market US/CA: CHECK ENGINE

• Possible misfiring before DTC is generated.


On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:


- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.


Enable criteria:

Test 1: Engine running. Main relay voltage exceeding 10 V. Preheating has been active for more than 8 minutes.

Test 2: Closed loop is active.

Fault criteria:


- Test 1: Voltage has not been outside the range 0.400- 0.600 V.

- Test 2: Closed loop active and voltage has not been outside the range 0.400-0.600 V for 10 s.


Dependents:


- P1135 and P1136.


System reaction to a fault :


- Closed loop control system blocked.


OK report:


- Test 1 and Test 2 performed once and fault criteria not fulfilled. 60 s. has past and closed loop is still active. Fault criteria for P0131 or P0132 not fulfilled.


Fault handling: (See “Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.)


- Type III.


Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns electrical faults in connected leads or in the sensor.

Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault are:


• Diagnostic status for the diagnosis.

• Heated oxygen sensor reading, in V.

Note

Oxygen sensor receives reference oxygen from the surrounding air via the connecting cables. For this reason, electrical contact spray or grease must not be used on the oxygen sensor connector.


Check the wiring

Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuits in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
