Read the instructions below then
start the fault diagnostic procedure.
Symptom: CHECK ENGINE.
Limited torque.
Knock Sensor Circuit. Low Input, Bank 1.
Fault symptoms
On-Board Diagnostics
Type of diagnosis:
-
|
Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.
|
Enable criteria:
-
|
Engine running. Main relay voltage exceeding 11V. Coolant temperature exceeding 60 °C.
|
Fault criteria:
-
|
Knock voltage below 0.25 V on sparking for 25 ignitions.
|
Dependents:
-
|
P0116, P0117 and P0118.
|
System reaction to a fault:
-
|
Knock signal set to 5V. In this way knock detection will take place continuously on all cylinders when under high load.
|
OK report:
-
|
Enable criteria fulfilled. Fault criteria not fulfilled within 120 s.
|
Fault handling:
(See section
Fault handling III, other emission-related components and functions
for more information.)
Diagnostic help
Fault diagnosis concerns electrical faults in connecting cables or in the ignition discharge module.
Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault are:
•
|
Knock sensor reading, in V.
|
See also description of read values in
Menu "Read Values"
for more information.
Note
|
The knock sensor is an internal ignition discharge module function. There is no external sensor.
|
Check the wiring
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuits in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
