Service campaign 118 40

Cars in stock must be remedied before delivery.

Cars already delivered must be rectified in connection with a scheduled visit to the garage for service or repairs.

Cars affected

Saab 9-5 M00 with 4-cylinder engine and automatic transmission and VIN within the interval Y3040825 - Y3054472

Background

The hydraulic hose may be incorrectly fitted. An incorrectly fitted hose may chafe against the engine mounting.

Symptom description

Chafed hydraulic hose.

Parts required

45 76 278 Hydraulic hose (if hose damaged by chafing only)

41 61 162 Sealing washer (2x) (only if hose damaged by chafing or connection leaking)

400 12 81 87 1l Transmission fluid, Dexron III mineral ATF

Procedure

Check box A1 on the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is not marked:

1. Check the hydraulic hose as illustrated. If the hydraulic hose has been fitted incorrectly and is chafing against the engine bracket then proceed to step 2. If the hydraulic hose is damaged, it must be changed. See WIS - Transmission - Adjustment/replacement - Oil pressure hoses, upper/lower (4-cyl). Remember to position the hose as described in step 2-3.

2. Undo the banjo connection screw in the gearbox. Turn the banjo connection clockwise so the hose goes well free of both the engine mounting and the subframe.

3. Hold the connection in this position and tighten the screw.

Tightening torque: 27 Nm (20 lbf ft)

Marking the modification identity plate

Mark box A1 on the modification identity plate after completing this procedure. Mark with a "7" if the procedure was performed by the importer or an "8" if performed by the dealer.
