Handbrake

Handbrake

Check the lever travel. If the wheels do not lock on the 4th notch, the handbrake must be adjusted.

We recommend changing the handbrake shoes if more than 10 threads are visible through the hole in the disc.

1. Release the handbrake.

2. Check that the cable is not pulling the actuating levers. If necessary, slacken the cable adjusting nut.

3. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the adjuster until the brake disc is blocked.

4. Then unscrew the adjuster until the brake disc can be rotated.

5. Repeat this procedure on the other rear wheel.

6. Fit the wheels and tighten the wheel bolts, using a torque wrench.

Tightening torque: 110 Nm (80 lbf ft)

Important

The wheel must hang freely when the wheel bolts are being tightened.

Lever travel reserve

1. Apply the handbrake 1 notch.

2. Raise the car so that the rear wheels can be rotated freely.

3. Screw in the adjusting nut on the handbrake lever through the hole in the front wall behind the mat in the centre console storage box until the brake is just applied.

4. Release the handbrake and apply it again. The wheels should lock on the 1st to 4th notch.

5. Lower the car to the floor.
