Locking and unlocking the tailgate



Lock

The tailgate lock can be locked at the same time as the other locking motors using the key in the driver's door, with the remote control or with the locking button on the centre console. The locking functions of the tailgate can be adjusted.

Using the diagnostic instrument, the following functions can be adjusted:

Unlock

The tailgate is unlocked with the switch on the driver's door or the tailgate button on the remote control. It can also be unlocked by turning the key in the lock cylinder in the tailgate. When the tailgate is unlocked by turning the key on cars for US/CA, the alarm will also be disarmed.

The tailgate can also be unlocked mechanically with the lock button by the inner handle but then the alarm will then not be disarmed if it was previously armed. If the TSL (Theft Security Lock) is active, the tailgate cannot be unlocked using the lock button by the inner handle.

The switch in the driver's door does not function when the car has been locked from outside or when TSL (Theft Security Lock) is active.



Opening the tailgate



Open the tailgate using the exterior handle, or from inside with the interior handle. There is a child safety catch on the bottom of the tailgate. The interior handle is then disconnected and the tailgate can only be opened from outside.

When the tailgate is opened, the contacts for the luggage compartment illumination close and ground pin 35 on the TWICE control module. TWICE sends the message “TAILGATE OPEN” to the bus when the tailgate is open. This is used by the main instrument unit, which turns on lamp 213j, door indicator, tailgate. DICE also uses the buss message to turn on the lighting in the tailgate.
