Crankcase ventilation, 4-cyl.

Crankcase ventilation, 4-cyl.

Function

The engine crankcase ventilation is a completely closed system. The ventilation system consists of a straight nipple by the camshaft cover. A hose connected to the nipple leads the crankcase gases via the camshaft cover to an external oil trap. The gases are then evacuated into the turbo intake pipe where they mix with the intake air and are combusted in the engine. The oil trap has a return line that discharges below the level of oil in the oil sump.
