Symptom description
Poor engine performance
Inspect box A3 on the modification identity plate before carrying out any measures. Proceed as follows if the box is not marked.
Reprogramme the engine control module. Use SPS 11.0 and Tech2 version 41.000 or later from TIS2000, issue 2001-1.
Service programming - Trionic 7
Carry out the following points carefully in order to succeed in reprogramming Trionic 7.
1.
Connect Tech2 to the data link connector.
2.
Start Tech2 and select:
F5: Service Programming (SPS).
3.
Select:
F0: Request Information.
5.
Then follow the directions given on Tech2.
6.
Disconnect Tech2 from the car and connect it to the COM port on the computer (flat cable). TIS 2000 must be installed on the computer.
7.
See whether the software version on the computer is newer than the one in Trionic 7. If so, download it to Tech2.
8.
Disconnect Tech2 from the computer and reconnect it to the car.
Note
Make sure the car battery is in good condition and turn off all heavy current consumers:
• ACC
• Lighting
• Radiator fan
(Disconnect 37LH from the radiator fan).
9.
Start Tech2 and select:
F5: Service Programming (SPS).
10.
Select:
F1: Program ECU.
11.
Follow the direction on Tech2.
12.
Wait for the entire programming procedure to complete. It will take about 20 minutes.
13.
Once programming is complete:
Turn off the ignition.
Connect the radiator fan.
Try starting the engine.
If the engine does not start:
Turn off the ignition, remove the fuse for Trionic 7 (fuse no. 17) and put it back again.
Try starting the engine.
14.
See whether any diagnostic trouble codes have been generated. Rectify any trouble codes as described in WIS fault diagnosis.
Marking the modification identity plate
After carrying out these measures, mark box A3 on the modification identity plate. Mark with the number "7" if the measures were carried out by the importer or with the number "8" if they were carried out by the dealer.
