P1530
Read the instructions below then
start the fault diagnostic procedure.
Symptom: Limited speed.
CHECK ENGINE.
Incorrect idle speed.
Cruise control inoperative.
Starting problems, especially when engine is cold.
Pedal Position Sensor 1 and 2 Circuit. Sum Out of Range.
Note
Incorrect signal from accelerator pedal position sensor.
Fault symptoms
•
Cruise control inoperative.
•
Starting problems, especially when engine is cold.
On-Board Diagnostics
Type of diagnosis:
-
Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.
Enable criteria:
-
Ignition in ON position.
Fault criteria:
-
The sum of the voltages from pedal position sensors 1 and 2 is above 5.55 V or below 4.45 V.
Dependents:
System reaction to a fault:
-
Fuel shut-off at engine speeds above 2200 rpm. Throttle control in limp-home. Limp-home solenoid will be activated 5 times in succession each time the ignition is switched on until the fault has been repaired and the diagnostic trouble codes cleared.
OK report:
-
Accelerator pedal has been depressed at some time and then fully released. 120 s has expired since then without fault criteria being fulfilled.
Fault handling:
(See “Fault diagnosis, general” for more information.)
-
CHECK ENGINE goes on immediately and can be turned off only by clearing the trouble codes.

Check the wiring
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuits in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
