Checking and topping up the transmission fluid should be carried out in accordance with the service schedule.

The level of the fluid can be checked in the following manner:

      | 1. | Position the car on a level surface and apply the handbrake. When checking the fluid level, the transmission should be at operating temperature (approx. + 80°C), which will be attained after driving a distance of approx. 20 km.

      | 2. | Run the engine at idling speed, engage position D and wait at least 15 seconds. Then engage R and wait 15 seconds. Do the same in position P.

      | 3. | Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth and put it back in the transmission.

      | 4. | The fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the dipstick marked +80°C. Top up as necessary with Texaco Texamatic DEXRON III (7045 EU, TL1863 US) through the dipstick pipe. The distance between the marks corresponds to about 0.4 litres.
