Master cylinder

To remove


1. Remove the lower part of the dashboard from under the steering wheel (data link connector and floor lighting).


2. Lift the spring from the clutch pedal.

3. Remove the clip and pin from the clutch pedal.

4. (LHD) Lift up the central electric unit in the engine bay.


5. (LHD) Lift up the Maxi fuse holder.

6. (LHD) Unscrew the bracket for the central electric unit and move it to one side.

7. (RHD) Remove the cover from the intake manifold.


8. Draw out the brake fluid from the reservoir with brake bleeder 88 19 096.

9. Detach the hose from the reservoir.

10. Undo the clip securing the delivery pipe to the master cylinder.

11. Remove the delivery pipe.

12. Undo and remove the nuts securing the master cylinder.

13. Remove the master cylinder.

14. Move the hose to the new master cylinder.


To fit



1. Fit the clip to the master cylinder.

2. Fit the master cylinder and tighten the nuts.

Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 lbf ft )

3. Connect the delivery pipe. Press the pipe into the plastic clip.

4. Connect the supply hose to the reservoir.

5. (LHD) Fit the bracket for the central electric unit.


6. (LHD) Fit the Maxi fuse holder.

7. (LHD) Fit the central electric unit.

8. (RHD) Fit the cover over the intake manifold.

9. Fit the pin and clip to the pedal. Lubricate the pin with Nynäs Alexol L12.


10. Hook on the spring.

11. Depress the pedal and pull out the switch pushrod. Adjust the switch to the correct position when releasing the pedal.

12. Fit the lower part of the dashboard, data link connector and floor lighting.

13. Fit the pedal switch and connect the cable.

Depress the pedal and pull out the pushrod in the switch. When the pedal is then released, the switch will be adjusted to the correct position. Check by pulling back the pedal once by hand.

14. Top up the brake fluid.

15. Bleed the clutch as described in .

16. Test the clutch and cruise control.
