Interior rear-view mirror with automatic antidazzle function
Interior rear-view mirror with automatic antidazzle function |
The interior rear-view mirror with automatic antidazzle function automatically darkens when the lights of the vehicle behind shine on the mirror.
The rear-view mirror comprises two glass panels with fluid in between and a mirror lamination on the inner panel.
On the rear side of the glass is a control module with two integrated sensors. One sensor is forward facing and measures the light in front of the car. The other sensor is rear facing and measures the light from vehicles behind the car. The forward-facing sensor detects when it is dark outside and accordingly activates the system. The control module receives information from the sensors and compares the strengths of the light from behind with the light from in front.
There is a contact strip on both of the long edges of the glass that, depending on the signals from the sensors, is fed current. The chemical fluid steplessly darkens the mirror.
A switch on the rear side of the mirror allows the function to be turned off manually. When reverse gear is engaged, the system is automatically turned off.
Voltage +15 is fed via fuse 21 to the rear-view mirror. The mirror is grounded to grounding points G40 and G42.
