Cars affected

Saab 9-5 M02 with engine alternative D223L and within VIN range 23020429 - 23059032

Background

In some cars the diaphragm in the vacuum box which regulates the swirl throttle disintegrates when it comes into contact with oil. This can cause poor drivability and the CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp to come on. A new vacuum box with oil resistant diaphragm has been introduced. The vacuum box must be replaced by a new one on all cars affected.

Symptoms

Deteriorating drivability. CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp on.
