Sheet metal oil sump

To remove


1. Raise the car and remove the lower engine cover.


2. Loosen the oil plug and drain the oil from the engine.


3. Remove the sheet metal oil sump and clean the seal faces of the sump and engine.


To fit


1. Fit the sheet metal sump. Apply a 2 mm bead of flange sealant 87 81 841 on the sump's seal face.

Tightening torque: 9 Nm (7 lbf ft)


2. Fit the oil plug with a new gasket.

3. If needed, change the oil filter. See...

4. Fit the lower engine cover.


5. Top up with engine oil. See Lubrication, lubricants
