Cars in stock must be rectified before delivery.

Cars already delivered must be rectified in connection with a scheduled visit to the garage for service or repairs.

Cars affected

Saab 9-5 MY02 with D308L engine within VIN range 23000132 - 23031389.

Background

Due to insufficient material quality, the auxilliary's drive belt can wear out quickly. A new drive belt made from different rubber has been produced for mounting in cars within the above VIN range.

Procedure

Inspect box C5 on the modification identity plate before taking any action. Continue as follows if the box is not marked.

To remove


1. Raise the car.

2. Remove the lower engine cover.


3. Remove the drive belt cover.

4. Carefully and slowly release the tension of the belt tensioner. Remove the drive belt.



To fit


1. Fit the drive belt over all pulleys.


2. Carefully and slowly release the tension of the belt tensioner. Check that the drive belt is positioned correctly on the pulleys.

3. Fit the drive belt cover.


4. Fit the lower engine cover and lower the car.

5. Start the engine and check its function.


Marking the modification identity plate

On completion of the necessary procedures on the affected cars, as described in MI210-2339, MI210-2340, MI260-2342, MI432-2345 and MI871-2346, box C5 on the modification identity plate must be marked. If the work was carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If done by a dealer, mark it with an "8".
