Front intake manifold, secondary air injection

Front intake manifold, secondary air injection

To remove

1. Remove the engine cover.

2. Remove the bypass pipe with valve, keeping the O-ring from the connection to the turbocharger inlet pipe.

3. Unplug the connector from the temperature/pressure sensor on the charge air pipe.

4. Detach the charge air pipe from the throttle body.

5. Raise the car.

6. Detach the charge air pipe from the charge air cooler leaving the clip to hang on the cooler.

7. Lower the car to the floor.

8. Remove the charge air pipe.

9. Remove the heat shield over the front exhaust manifold.

10. Undo the air connection to the secondary air injection valve by pressing together the clip and pulling it back. See illustration.

11. Remove the inlet pipe from the front exhaust manifold, 3 bolts, and from the cylinder head, 1 nut.

12. Remove the secondary air injection valve from the inlet pipe.

To fit

1. Fit the secondary air injection valve to the inlet pipe with a new gasket.

Important

The gasket between the inlet pipe and the valve must always be changed after removing the secondary air injection valve.

2. Fit new gaskets and connect the inlet pipe to the front exhaust manifold and cylinder head.

3. Connect the air hose to the valve. Check the connection.

4. Fit the heat shield over the front exhaust manifold.

5. Fit the charge air pipe.

6. Raise the car.

7. Fit the charge air pipe to the charge air cooler with the clip.

8. Lower the car to the floor.

9. Connect the charge air pipe to the throttle body.

10. Plug in the connector for the temperature/pressure sensor on the charge air pipe.

11. Fit the bypass pipe with valve using a new O-ring for the connection to the turbocharger inlet pipe.

12. Fit the engine cover.
