Fuel rail/Common rail, V6

Fuel from the fuel pump is supplied at a pressure of 25 - 135 MPa to the common rail and then to the different injectors. On the common rail is a pressure sensor and a safety valve that lead fuel back to the tank. The pressure sensor sends information concerning the pressure in the common rail to the piezo-ceramic power stage for fine adjustment of the pressure.
The safety valve protects against excessive pressure in the common rail. If the pressure in the common rail exceeds 150 MPa, the valve will open to allow fuel to flow back to the tank. The pressure must then drop below 30 MPa before the safety valve closes again.
