Replacing the generator, V6 diesel

Note
|
If the car is equipped with a radio other than a genuine Saab radio, check that the customer has the radio code before commencing work.

1.
|
Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
|
2.
|

Important
|
Make a note of the belt's direction of rotation. The belt must be refitted for the same direction of rotation as previously.
|

|
3.
|
Relieve the tension on the belt tensioner and unhook the multigroove V-belt.
|
4.
|
Disconnect the generator cable terminals.
|

|
Fit the generator.
Tightening torque, upper bolt 28 Nm (21 lbf ft)
Tightening torque, lower bolt 58 Nm (43 lbf ft)

2.
|
Connect the generator cable terminals.
Important
|
Make a note of the belt's direction of rotation. The belt must be refitted for the same direction of rotation as previously.
|

|
3.
|
Refit the multigroove V-belt.
Note
|
Make sure that the belt is correctly positioned on all the pulleys.
|
|
5.
|
Connect the negative battery cable and fit the battery cover.
|
