If the car has a non-Saab radio, check that the customer has the radio code before commencing work. |

Remove the upper engine cover.

2. |
Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery cable.
|
3. |
Undo the vacuum tank with associated bracket and bend it to one side.
|
4. |
Remove the heat shield.
|
5. |
Remove the lower bolt on the rear stay and undo the top one slightly.
|
6. |
Undo the starter motor connecting cables and cut off the cable tie around the cable rail.
|
7. |
Raise the car.
|
8. |
Remove the lower engine cover.
|
9. |
Remove the lower starter motor retaining bolt using a long extension through the right wheel housing.
|
10. |
Lower the car.
|
11. |
Remove the upper starter motor retaining bolt.
|
12. |
Lift out the starter motor.

To fit |
1. |
Clean and coat the starter motor contact surfaces and electrical connections with
Vaseline, non-acidic
.

2. |
Refit the starter motor.
|
3. |
Fit the upper starter motor retaining bolt without torque tightening it.
|
4. |
Raise the car.
|
5. |
Fit the lower starter motor retaining bolt using a long extension through the right wheel housing.
|
6. |
Fit the lower engine cover.
|
7. |
Lower the car.
|
8. |
Torque tighten the upper starter motor retaining bolt.
|
9. |
Connect the cables to the starter motor and secure them with cable ties to the cable rail.
|
10. |
Fit the rear stay.
|
11. |
Fit the heat shield.
|
12. |
Fit the vacuum tank with associated bracket.
|
13. |
Connect the negative cable to the battery and fit the battery cover.
|
14. |
Fit the upper engine cover.
|
15. |
Set the clock and reprogram the radio code.
|
16. |
Carry out a function check.
