Background

Procedure A

The bonnet switch for the anti-theft alarm is incorrectly positioned. This can result in the bonnet's alarm casing causing damage to the bonnet switch.

Procedure B

The wiring harness to the engine is inadequately secured. There is a risk that the wiring harness will rub against the bonnet switch's bracket, which can cause failure.

79 71 880 cable tie (2pcs)

Self-adhesive electrical tape

Procedure A, adjustment of bonnet switch, anti-theft alarm

Check box B1 of the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box has not been marked.


1. Check if the bonnet switch for the anti-theft alarm is damaged. If the bonnet switch for the anti-theft alarm is damaged, replace it with a new one.

2. Remove the protective cover to the fuse box to facilitate checking the bonnet switch's condition.

3. Lower the bonnet and check that the bonnet switch is in the right place in relation to the bonnet's alarm casing.

4. If the bonnet switch is in the wrong place in relation to the alarm casing, twist the bonnet switch's bracket with pliers so that the bonnet switch lies in the correct position.


5. Refit the fuse box's protective cover.

6. Connect the diagnostic tool. Look at read value " Bonnet" in TWICE. Check that the read value “ OPEN”/” CLOSED” corresponds to the bonnet's appearance.


Procedure B, adjustment of engine wiring harness

Check box B1 of the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box has not been marked.


1. Expose the wiring harness in the area around the bonnet switch bracket.


2. Check if the wiring harness is damaged. If the wiring harness is damaged it must be rectified, see SI 371-1703 in WIS.

3. Apply self-adhesive electrical tape to the bracket's sharp edges.


4. Put back the wiring harness and secure it to the bracket with a cable tie.


5. Petrol-driven cars: Secure the two wiring harnesses to each other with a cable tie.


6. Diesel-driven cars: Secure the two wiring harnesses to each other with a cable tie.



Marking the modification identity plate

On completion of the necessary rectification, box B1 on the modification identity plate must be marked. If the work is carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If carried out by the dealer, mark it with an "8".
