Cleaning the cooling circuit

Cleaning the cooling circuit

Connect flushing equipment 87 91 824 to the cooling circuit so that the flow is in the opposite direction.

Note

Important

Always use protective gloves. Incorrect connection can cause damage to the transmission as the fluid filter incorporates a non-return valve and the fluid is not able to circulate in the transmission. The cooler will not be cleaned either.

1. Oil in the adapter plate sealing surface using automatic transmission fluid and fit a new oil filter.

2. Connect one of the hoses in the kit to the outlet on the bottom of the adapter plate (opposite side to the fluid filter).

3. Raise the car.

4. Detach the delivery hose from the inner transmission outlet and connect it to the outlet on the side of the adapter plate (inlet).

5. Detach the return hose from the outer transmission outlet and connect the fitted hose to the underside of the adapter to the outer transmission outlet.

6. Couple together the return hose from the cooler with the remaining hose in the kit and connect it to the inner outlet on the transmission.

7. Fill transmission with fluid, start the engine and make sure the connections do not leak.

8. Apply the handbrake and depress the brake pedal.

9. Move the selector lever to position D and let the cleaning procedure progress for 5 minutes.

10. Detach the hose from the inner outlet on the transmission and separate the joint between the hose from the cooler and the hose from the cleaning kit.

11. Detach the cleaning kit hose from the outer transmission outlet and connect the return hose from the cooler instead.

12. Detach the delivery hose from the outlet on the side of the adapter plate (inlet) and connect it to the inner transmission outlet. Use new seals greased with vaseline.

Tightening torque 27 Nm (20 lbf ft)

13. Make sure the hoses are not resting on the subframe. Lower the car.

14. Check the fluid level in the transmission and top up if necessary.
