To remove |
1. |
Place the car on a hoist and turn the steering wheel full left lock.

Raise the car and put a receptacle underneath to collect any fluid spill.

3. |
Remove the front left wheel.
|
4. |
Remove the left outer track rod end from the steering swivel member. Use 87 91 287 puller.

5. |
Clean thoroughly around the transmission servo housing and on the subframe.
|
6. |
Press in the servo cover by applying a ½" drawbar handle with socket against the cover.

7. |
Remove the circlip.
|
8. |
Remove the cover, piston and spring from the transmission servo housing.

To fit |
1. |
Assemble the piston and cover plus the spring. Lubricate the O-rings with
Vaseline, non-acidic
.

2. |
Position the piston package in the gearcase. Make sure the O-rings are not damaged.
|
3. |
Press in the piston package somewhat using a ½" drawbar handle with socket.
|
4. |
Thread the ring over the tool and onto the cover. Press the tool slightly and insert the circlip into its groove and fit the circlip.
|
5. |
Remove the tool and make sure the circlip is positioned correctly in the groove.
|
6. |
Clean away any fluid spill on the subframe.
|
7. |
Fit the outer track rod end with a new nut.
Tightening torque 35 Nm (26 lbf ft) |
8. |
Fit the wheel and lower the car.
Tightening torque: 110 Nm (81 lbf ft) |
